Chernarus crisis nearing end as USMC advance

SOUTH ZAGORIA, Chernarus (AAN) – Marines in Chernarus relocate to new base camp.

The 27th MEU forces inside Chernarus reached a landmark in the liberation of Chernarus today when they relocated to a new base camp in the north of the country. This move indicates that the country is now substantially more stable after a week of gains by combined CDF and USMC forces.

'Conventional' war over?

NEW YORK, United States (AAN) – Second Round of UN talks begin as ChDKZ line begins to collapse.

The second round of Security Council talks, aimed at bringing a multilateral solution to Chernarus begun at UN Headquarters in New York today. The meeting comes as CDF and USMC forces claim a massive breakthrough in ChDKZ lines.

Elements of the 27th MEU and Chernarussian Defence Force have cleared key strongholds in the north of the country, paving the way for allied troops to begin counter insurgency operations in the region.

2nd chance for UN talks

NEW YORK, United States (AAN) – Second round of UN Security Council talks tabled.

A second round of talks aimed at creating a combined UN solution to the Chernarussian crisis will begin tomorrow. The failure of Council members to reach a unanimous agreement earlier this week has been widely criticised. With CDF control of South Zagoria almost a fait accompli thanks to US intervention a UN resolution to secure multilateral consensus may seem somewhat moot.

Nationalist reprisals intensify

SOUTH ZAGORIA, Chernarus (AAN) – More civilian violence in remote northern Chernarus.

The CDF/USMC advance is stalling against a resurgent ChDKZ army as nationalist militas continue to attack ethnic Russian settlements.

Reports of increased ferocity in fighting between CDF troops and ChDKZ separatists have called into question the efficacy of the US-led approach to the conflict. Ground in the more northerly regions of the province, taken over the past few days by combined USMC/CDF force, is being lost by CDF units left in control.
